Certification Process: To ensure that applicant and certified organization assessment requirements are properly identified, and that DEMBCP certifications are administered in an unbiased, equitable and repeatable manner. Prior to the Certification Audit, a Desktop Assessment and a Stage I, On Site Readiness Review are conducted in which NEMR identifies specific information about the potential applicant, and the applicant can gain a better understanding of NEMR and its certification process. This activity includes a detailed site tour to ensure a complete understanding of all potential hazards that may apply to the organization. At no time may consultation or specific guidance be given to an applicant beyond that which may apply to the application process. NEMR Certifications will be conducted in the following manner: Questionnaire: Dependent upon the size and organization, the potential applicant will choose the applicable questionnaire and submit it to NEMR to start the process: Small/Medium Organization

Click Here Application: NEMR requires an official application form completed and signed by a duly authorized representative of the applicant. The applicant organization will then be provided with a Certification Estimate for review and approval. Assessment: NEMR will prepare a plan for its assessment activities to allow for the necessary arrangements made. The auditor reports to the applicant/certified organization's facility at the appointed time and date and conduct the assessment. The auditor completes all assessment documentation and ensure delivery of this documentation to NEMR within 10 business days after the completion of the on site assessment. NEMR Assessment Review: The assessment documentation is received by NEMR and reviewed to ensure all necessary items have been included and are complete. The assessment documentation is then forwarded to a review panel for approval. Certification and Registration: Once the assessment has been evaluated and approval granted by the review panel, NEMR will issue a Program Certification and list the entity in a Registry of Certified Entities (Registration). Continued Maintenance and Surveillance: Certified organizations are subject to surveillance assessments that are conducted in the same manner as certification assessments. ·Surveillance assessments are conducted annually on or about the anniversary date of the original assessment. NEMR will give due notice, both public and with current certified organizations of any changes it intends to make in its requirements for certification. NEMR takes into account views expressed by interested parties before deciding on the precise form and effective date of any proposed changes. Following a decision on, and publication of, the changed requirements, NEMR will verify that each organization carries out any necessary adjustments to its procedures within such time as, in the opinion of NEMR, is reasonable.
